7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Centralized Certified website & app that keeps vehicle maintenance records from ALL repair and maintenance shops. Opportunity: Thousands of cars are in and out of repair/maintenance shops, but yet most of those shops aren't registered with Carfax (the only 3rd party car record website). The Who: People with cars The What: People who get their cars repaired or maintained at any of the smaller independently owned car shops most likely isn't going to get their service put on record with CarFax.  The Why: CarFax is a large company that keeps vehicle records, but yet doesn't sign deals with smalled car shops in order to make it "appealing" to go to the big expensive dealerships to get your car services.  Testing the who: This applies to anyone who finds it important to keep vehicle maintenance records and also likes to have a choice in where they go for their car service. Testing the what: Most independent car service shops aren't on CarFax...

6A – Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Regulatory: Regulation 1: " U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, invite the public to comment on applications to conduct certain activities with foreign endangered species, marine mammals, or both."  Where I found it: Regulations.gov Opportunity 1: An application with easy to use interface that allows people to vote on pending permits that deal with endangered animals. What leads me to believe an opportunity like this might be successful is that the process of submitting these comments to the US Fish and Wildlife is kind of tedious. I believe millennials and young people who want to be involved will use this app. The Opportunity is rather easy to replicate if you know how to create app, but I believe what will set it apart is if it is government funded. What leads me to see this opportunity is the recent rise of emerging apps that help young people get more involved politically. --- Regulation 2: IRS releases new 2018 withholdi...

5A – Identifying Local Opportunities

IN YOUR SCHOOLS - Metro districts decide how to make up for missed class time http://infoweb.newsbank.com.lp.hscl.ufl.edu/resources/doc/nb/news/169A14F5FB685BD8?p=WORLDNEWS This Article discussed how various counties around the Atlanta metro area are going to make up for lost school days due to snow.  The problem is that all counties are different so they all need unique solutions to make up for the lost school days.  The problem now rests on the shoulders of the communities and parents of school children since they are being asked for feedback on how they should make up the lost days.  AMAZON - Experts (well, some) predict Amazon will pick  Atlanta http://infoweb.newsbank.com.lp.hscl.ufl.edu/resources/doc/nb/news/169A14F5C1FC83B0?p=WORLDNEWS After Atlanta did make it on the top 20 of potential places released by Amazon. some studies speculate that Atlanta is going to be the pick for Amazons new Head Quarters. However, it isn't certain a...

Forming An Opportunity, Assignment 4A

Image
I have a belief that there is a problem with the Apple iPhone charging cables. I myself have experienced dozens of broken charging cables due to the wear and tear they receive on the end that plugs into the phone. Not only do I have this problem, but it is something that I noted other students in my Entrepreneurship class have too. What happens is that the end of the cable that gets plugged into our phone often receives excessive bending. This excessive bending causes the outer rubbery layer of the cable to break, revealing the internal wires of the cable. The unmet need is a solution that will prevent this problem. Everyone with an iPhone, over 1.6 billion people, has experienced this problem and is looking for that solution. The need for the solution hasn't always been needed, it started with the release and expansion of iPhones. People all over the world are creating their own "at home" solutions to fix this problem - putting tape around the ...

My Entrepreneurship story, Assignment 3A

Image
My entrepreneurship story I was 12 years old when the newest and latest gaming device was released, the PlayStation Portable. I really wanted it but at it’s $250 price tag my parents had to decide between groceries for family or the gaming device. Not being able to afford the PlayStation Portable gave me my first taste of entrepreneurship when I decided to take matters into my own hands and somehow make the money I needed to get what I wanted. I started selling candy under the table in my middle school. I would buy bulk candy from Costco and sell individually to classmates. Soon enough, in about 4 months, I had enough money made to buy the PlayStation Portable for myself. In hindsight, this experience shaped me significantly - allowing me to build an internal locus of control. Fast forward 4 years and I am working as a busboy at a local restaurant. I have picked up photography as a hobby and I am in my junior year of high school and it’s time to start looking into colleges and...

My Bug List, Assignment 2A

1.  My hands slipping on my towel during the first 15 minutes of my yoga class. WHY it exists?  Since my hands and the towel are dry, there is no grip. Once I get a bit more sweaty, my hands grip better to the towel. 2.  My new MacBook Pro only has USB-C connectors, forcing me to carry additional peripherals to function with a standard USB 3.0 external hard drive. WHY it exists?  Apple is usually ahead of the curve when it comes to laptop technology. This time, however, they have really left behind a technology that is still very current. 3.   Not being able to rent out pick-up trucks from Enterprise because you are under 25. WHY it exists?  Statistics prove that males under the age of 25 are more likely to get traffic violations, accidents, pick faster cars, etc. And insurance companies deem you more liable, too liable to let you rent out a pick-up truck with Enterprise. 4.  Chik-fil-A is closed on Sundays. W...
